Mamma Mia on Tour

My sister and I are going to St. Louis, MO to see the touring Broadway show of Mamma Mia in Feb (next month) I'm so excited! We discovered the movie last summer and I can't tell you how many times we have watched it.  Well, we only watched it one time together.  That was a fun night.  No boys, lots of wine and lots of bling and feathered boas.  Good times.
Since that movie seemed to strike us both at such a level, it seemed only natural to go and see the Broadway version.  After all, that is where the movie started theater.  The history of this production is quite interesting.  If you don't know already, the entire production is embellished (or perhaps born from music by Abba) with music by Abba.  You young thangs may not even know about Abba, but us 70's and 80's girls will totally know them and appreciate them.

According to Wikepedia:

Mamma Mia!, promoted as Mamma Mia! The Movie, is a 2008 romantic comedy film adapted from the 1999 West End musical of the same name, based on the songs of successful pop groupABBA, with additional music composed by ABBA member Benny Andersson. Produced by Universal Pictures in partnership with Tom Hanks' and Rita Wilson's Playtone and Littlestar,[2] it became the highest-grossing film musical of all time breaking the 30-year-old record of Grease. The title originates from ABBA's 1975 chart-topper "Mamma Mia". Meryl Streep heads the cast, playing the role of single mother Donna Sheridan. Pierce BrosnanColin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgård play the three possible fathers to Donna's daughter, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried).
On 29 August 2008, Mamma Mia!: The Sing-Along Edition, with lyrics to the songs highlighted on the screen, was released in selected cinemas.[3] Mamma Mia! became the highest-grossing film of all time in the United Kingdom, surpassing Titanic.[4][5]

WHATEVER! Rhea and I both loved the movie.  We talk about it all the time.  So, we know we will enjoy the broadway version.  We both always wanted to go to New York and see a broadway play.  However, we are not against going anywhere to see a touring broadway play.

I bought the tickets tonight.  This week we will complete all the travel plans for a sisters weekend.  I can't wait to spend time with my sister and see a broadway show even if it is not in New York City.

Meanwhile, let me leave you with this photo of the fabulous Meryl Streep from the Mamma Mia Movie.

Okay. Maybe it *is* time for me to see this thing.
(I just have never liked musicals, so I've been resisting it!)

I love musicals. This has been classified as a Chick Movie, by my spouse. I've been dying to see it ever since the release, but my hubby always rolls his eyes and says "do you really want to see that?". Our Blockbuster is closed, but I'm going to figure out a way to see this flick. Hope you have a great time.
