Lost Sole Challenge

I'm starting to wonder if I am the only one that sees all these single shoes on the road. This is not the first time I have addressed this isue on my blog . I see at least one single shoe every day on the highway or a street in town. I don't understand where all these shoes come from. Every time I see a shoe on the road, I wonder how it got there.?.....I wonder what story goes with the shoe. If it is a childs shoe like this one, I wonder if a mother is going crazy searching the house for this shoe? Why just one shoe and not the pair of shoes?!

I see shoes on the road all the time. They are just not always in the most convenient places for photographing. But, on occasion, these single shoes are in a location that I feel comfortable enough to stop and photograph them. The particular shoe was spotted in front of the Big Spring High School on 11th place. It was late evening in the summer so I felt very comfortable in stopping and taking a picture of it.

I want to challenge you to be on the look out for single shoes (lost soles) on the road of life. Please take pics and send them to me. This is a July challenge and is in effect until the end of July. At the end of July, I will randomly select a winner for a prize from my store. So, start keeping your camera ready and watch for the single shoe that I know you will see if you just watch for it. It is crazy how many of them are out there.

You are so right about the shoes. What disturbs me is a lone adult shoe. How does an adult walk out of their shoe and not realize it?! At least I'm not that far gone...Whew!

oh Lesley, when I lived in Mexico the island seemed to be a catch-all for lost soles. In fact a local artist made a hanging mobile with the single sandals he found on the beach, and titled it "Lost Soles" I am in on this one!

Hmmm, I think you're on to something there. It is strange to see just one - I went through a phase where I kept seeing a pair of running shoes, tied together with the laces and strung up over telephone wires running down the street.

Ok, love your new banner first off. Very cute! I love that you are fascinated by the lost soles. It just makes me remember the time mom threw my shoes out the window while driving down the road because I refused to wear the new shoes she bought me in town. So my favorite shoes goes bouncing down that road and I was so disappointed! lol I bet they didn't end up together either! lol

I see those shoes all the time and think ....how do you lose one shoe in the middle of the interstate? If by some freak act of nature, I too would lose a shoe out of the window...while driving 75 mph down the highway....I have decided that I would pitch the other shoe out asap....that way.....the shoes would hopefully find their way back together again...

I'd never really thought about it, but now that I do, I realize I see "lost soles" everywhere!

As a child, I frequently "lost" (actually abandoned) a single shoe from just about every pair I wore one summer - I remember my mother stopping the car on the street near our house, pointing out the window, and saying "Suzi, is that....it is! That's your shoe!" and my immediate thought was, "I should've thrown it in the creek!"

I've had a love/hate relationship with shoes my whole life - love shoes, love to go barefoot.

So, who won the challenge? : )

Paper Flowers and Fabric Flowers

Well, I'm kind of in a creative funk again. I hate it when this happens! I'm so glad that next weekend I am going to Fredricksberg, TX again to the trade days. I know it will inspire me in all kinds of directions. Meanwhile, while I am trying to get my groove back........I have been making a lot of little short term projects in the paper department. I made this little posey pin from faux vintage post/letters etc papers from the scrapbooking department. I actually wore it yesterday on my jacket. Then I spotted this book on Fabric Flowers by Elizabeth Helene Searle at the fabric store and I had to get it. I used her instructions to make this first fabric flower. I want to try several of her other flowers instructions. Now, what will I do with them? Who knows? Does it really matter if I am enjoying myself? Probably everyone will get fabric or paper flowers for Christmas! Heehee Have a great day.

Laughing Out Loud

I still have some work to do on these paper mache letters. I finally found something to do with all the bits and pieces of things that I keep because they will be perfect for some piece of art.....some day. Today is the day! I really love this piece/grouping. LOL .....a good message don't you think? Go ahead, Laugh Out Loud.....it is very healthy and therapeutic. Today, I bought the soundtrack to Mamamia and I have enjoyed the heck out of it. I really enjoyed that movie. I have discovered that people either love it or hate it. I just think that it is so cool that Meryl Streep totally stepped out of her norm and went for the musical. She did a great job and I can't wait to see it again. It is a great girlfriends and sisters movie. I highly recommend that you go and get it and go to your girlfriends house and watch it and....oh....I don't know......LAUGH OUT LOUD! Let me know if you do and how it goes.

I have been professionally selling my pottery for 8 years. I was waiting for my husband to graduate from design school and find a job while i worked and played with clay. Over a few years I began to build a small business selling my pottery. MY husband didn't find the job of his dreams and so he joined my in the studio as my partner. Now we make our living as artists selling pottery.I think I am still trying to figure that out.
