Love Birds Slain

(Warning) the following may not be suitable for the squeamish or young audiences!

So I posted the pics the other day of my little love birds (last post) and left the little cake topper up on the cabinet and went to pick up some supper. When I got home, I found one of the little birdies mangled on the floor by the cabinet. I knew instantly that Sebastian had gotten them. The other bird was found under my kitchen table, equally brutalized. Oh, I was so mad at that DOG!!!! I yelled at him and I had such a fit.....he just went and hid under the bed. I even cried because I was so upset. I worked on those birds for 3 days. But, eventually, I remembered they were only material.....could be made again and that my dog did not mean to be bad. He probably thought they looked like a cookie. My husband reminded me that Golden Retrievers were initially bred to be bird dogs er uh.....to "retrieve birds". Duh!~

So I sculpted two other birds and they are curing and getting ready for painting this weekend. I could not help but show you this pic of Sebastian's little nose and tongue that got him in trouble. Hope you all have a creative and non-violent weekend.

Poor Love Birdies ! Poor (and oh so bad) Sebastian ! Poor, poor Lesley ! Quite the tale of woe ! Thank goodness you were able to recreate your work. I hope the new set is far above the curious yet oh so cute nose !
"He's a bird dog !...What a dog !"

That is funny and sad at the same time! It's good that you didn't stay mad at Sebastian....I guess dogs just do what dogs do and in this case it was get the birds.
I would be upset too! I bet they were the easiest birds to catch!
can't wait to see the new ones you just made. :)

Eeeeekkkk,Leslie! I was most of the way through this post before I became aware that you were talking about created birds and not the ones with feathers that chirp! I was thinking, poor little things!

Sorry about the creations but I am really glad they weren't alive!

Thanks for dropping by my blog!

I am sorry that Sebastian ruined your cute little birdies! They were adorable! It sounds like Sebastian knew he was a bad dog!
Years ago I spent days and days and days on a needlepoint Christmas stocking. It took forever. I made it for my boyfriend for Christmas but couldn't find it after I completed it. Come to find out, my first golden retriever took it outside and it froze in the snow and ice and I had to wait until it melted so I could get it back! It was ruined.
Well as frustrating as this may have been ...this is too funny! You have to admit...he looks pretty cute...aleast his nose and tongue.
So do you get huricanes in west Texas?
Blessings,
Terisa

Paper Flowers and Fabric Flowers

Well, I'm kind of in a creative funk again. I hate it when this happens! I'm so glad that next weekend I am going to Fredricksberg, TX again to the trade days. I know it will inspire me in all kinds of directions. Meanwhile, while I am trying to get my groove back........I have been making a lot of little short term projects in the paper department. I made this little posey pin from faux vintage post/letters etc papers from the scrapbooking department. I actually wore it yesterday on my jacket. Then I spotted this book on Fabric Flowers by Elizabeth Helene Searle at the fabric store and I had to get it. I used her instructions to make this first fabric flower. I want to try several of her other flowers instructions. Now, what will I do with them? Who knows? Does it really matter if I am enjoying myself? Probably everyone will get fabric or paper flowers for Christmas! Heehee Have a great day.

Lost Sole Challenge

childs shoe in front of hs Originally uploaded by Funky Art Queen I'm starting to wonder if I am the only one that sees all these single shoes on the road. This is not the first time I have addressed this isue on my blog . I see at least one single shoe every day on the highway or a street in town. I don't understand where all these shoes come from. Every time I see a shoe on the road, I wonder how it got there.?.....I wonder what story goes with the shoe. If it is a childs shoe like this one, I wonder if a mother is going crazy searching the house for this shoe? Why just one shoe and not the pair of shoes?! I see shoes on the road all the time. They are just not always in the most convenient places for photographing. But, on occasion, these single shoes are in a location that I feel comfortable enough to stop and photograph them. The particular shoe was spotted in front of the Big Spring High School on 11th place. It was late evening in the summer so I felt very comfortable in

Funky and Proud

Just wanted to say a big thanks to all who responded to the last post. You are all so smart and insightful. I think after much thought and several good conversations with my friends, I feel better about this whole idea. My conclusion, I do many different things that fall under the "mixed media" category...even the jewelry. I have this never ending curiosity and desire to learn new techniques. Whatever I am working on at the moment is satisfying my creative cravings...if not, I don't do it. If I don't enjoy something....I don't do it. It is that simple. The "Funky Art Queen" thing? It occured to me that the people that would be put off by my d.b.a. would be those that most likely would not be drawn to my art in the first place. Thanks again. I just love every one of you. Next blog......not all about me I promise. HUGS
