Funky Art Queen Update

Hello blog friends! Yes, I'm still here. I took this self portrait yesterday. I was going to send it to Cody via snail mail with my letter but hubby thought that was a bad idea so soon in the training. So, you get it!

It has been a great week so far. I have felt so much better since we got a call from Cody on Friday of last week. He sounded so upbeat and happy. That did me and Craig so much good. Cody said he is the assistant dorm leader and he feels he is one of the best marchers. He told his father that he is appreciating life so much more and not just "sitting on my ass". He sounds pumped up about his Airforce training and that gave me such comfort.

I continue to work on my metal, soldered, and found object jewelry. This is a picture of my current works in progress. I spend so much time on each piece trying to decide what it is I am trying to say and how I am going to say it. I love going through my box of metal found objects and old jewelry pieces to put each piece together. I have such amazing friends. Last week, Kim gave me a large zip lock baggy full of her old, broken, discarded jewelry. Then, today, Renea and Lisa gave me another huge bag full of discarded jewelry pieces. I have so much junk to turn into treasure. I just can't say enough about my dear friends. They spoil me.....really I don't know what I would do without them.

OK, now I must give you the Chandler garden update. I really wanted a huge garden this year....but we just could not pull it together . So, I have my container garden again this year. Here are pics of my tomato plants and my jalapenos. I have cillantro in the front yard in barrels. So, we have everything we need (except for the onions) to make an awsome salsa.

Great photo of you. And I love all the pieces you're working on. Isn't it nice to have friends who don't think you're nuts when you enjoy getting junk as a gift!

I have done container gardening and had great successs with it. I even had carrots and cucumbers and lettuce. I thought it was fun.

I have had much success with my container gardening...sometimes a big garden is so daunting. I love your jewelry pieces you are working on, especially the Frida pieces! But my favorite part of this post is the lovely photo of you, you georgous funky art queen.

Paper Flowers and Fabric Flowers

Well, I'm kind of in a creative funk again. I hate it when this happens! I'm so glad that next weekend I am going to Fredricksberg, TX again to the trade days. I know it will inspire me in all kinds of directions. Meanwhile, while I am trying to get my groove back........I have been making a lot of little short term projects in the paper department. I made this little posey pin from faux vintage post/letters etc papers from the scrapbooking department. I actually wore it yesterday on my jacket. Then I spotted this book on Fabric Flowers by Elizabeth Helene Searle at the fabric store and I had to get it. I used her instructions to make this first fabric flower. I want to try several of her other flowers instructions. Now, what will I do with them? Who knows? Does it really matter if I am enjoying myself? Probably everyone will get fabric or paper flowers for Christmas! Heehee Have a great day.

Dumpster Diving Diva

Dumpster Diving Diva Yes, I have to say, I probably looked something like this yesterday. I'm hoping that my bo - hiney did not look so much like this one though. OK, are you ready for this Lucy Ricardo story? It was Monday and I was working. I parked in the hospital parking lot and was going to go in and market to all the social workers. I spotted a trash dumpster and decided I should take advantage of that and clean the trash out of my car. (When you work out of your car...you are constantly cleaning trash out). So, I gathered up all trash and proudly walked over to the dumpster that I was parked so close to. I'm always so proud of myself for making do on the run. I proudly released my trash into the dumpster and before it hit the bottom I realized I also released my car keys! DANG IT! I could see them but for the life of me, I could not reach them. First, I looked all around for witnesses (none) so I dipped in slightly with my arm reaching as far as it could.....no go. Not

NO WATER REQUIRED FABRIC FLOWERS

I finished these fabric flowers yesterday. I loved the polkadot material. I just used fabric stiffener and I baked them some to make the fabric hard. I hot glued the stems and tied pretty ribbon. These are my kinda flowers......I can't kill these. Just dust and go. LOL Then after thinking about it a bit, I decided to make some round ones....kinda like pansies. That was not enough though.....I wanted them to be sort of primitive so I tea dyed them and baked them to stiffen. I also added polyurthane.....which by the way, I don't like as it seems to have a very mild stickiness even after they dried. So we live and learn....anyway....here they are. Then I decided to so something else with fabric....something different and unique. Oh my goodness, sometimes I can't leave well enough alone. I do not like this creation but I like the concept so I might have to play with the idea some more. I wanted to make a fabric sculpture piece of art that you could hang on the wall. This is
