Son is On his Way

Yay! Cody is coming home for a few weeks! We attended his graduation from security police (Airforce) training (13 weeks) on Tuesday. It was a quick trip to San Antonio to see him graduate. We took him to dinner and we hit the road to come home. We were so tired yesterday trying to recuperate! Look at my two favorite guys in the whole wide world (sorry richard gere).

I was running around like a crazy woman trying to get his room finished. I still have to run to Wally world and buy some pillows. I need to find some sheets to make some curtains. But, mostly it looks really nice. The room is not completely what I want it to be because I wanted to use the headboard I refinished (but I did not have a nice mattress and box springs yet)....Also a few other things. That will come later after we get Cody off to his first assignment in Mississippi. Hey, any of you bloggers from Biloxi,Mississippi? He is going to be at Keesler Airforce Base

My mom is coming this weekend and we are going to have a little barbeque-nothing fancy-probably just burgers. Cody is excited to see everyone and I am especially excited to see my mom. I just miss her. We are going to estate sales and garage sales together that morning like we used to. Anyway, life is good. Hugs to all-have a happy and safe day.

Oh my gosh, what 2 great looking men! I didn't realize how tall Cody is, reminds me of Barry & Corey, Corey is so much taller than Barry. I got tears in my eyes looking @ Cody b/c I know how proud you are! I'm proud for you honey! I think Cody will really like the AF now that he will be out of training! Hope you all have a great weekend, looking forward to meeting your MOM. Love ya, Renea

I AM from Mississippi, Meridian, not Biloxi, but we used to keep a boat there. My sister in law was the commander of the naval base in nearby Pascagoula until a few years ago. Biloxi is close to New Orleans where I did live for 5 years.

Your son is such a precious thing!I know that's not what young men want to hear, so, no, I mean he's rugged, manly, stalwart, even! I have two precious sons myself (20 and 27), so I'm partial, I guess. I know you must be eaten up with pride in him, and I hope your time together is wonderful. Tell him to try fried catfish and hushpuppies while he's in Biloxi, if he hasn't ever had either and red beans and rice, if he gets down to New Orleans.

Love to you all,
Alberta from Mississippi

Paper Flowers and Fabric Flowers

Well, I'm kind of in a creative funk again. I hate it when this happens! I'm so glad that next weekend I am going to Fredricksberg, TX again to the trade days. I know it will inspire me in all kinds of directions. Meanwhile, while I am trying to get my groove back........I have been making a lot of little short term projects in the paper department. I made this little posey pin from faux vintage post/letters etc papers from the scrapbooking department. I actually wore it yesterday on my jacket. Then I spotted this book on Fabric Flowers by Elizabeth Helene Searle at the fabric store and I had to get it. I used her instructions to make this first fabric flower. I want to try several of her other flowers instructions. Now, what will I do with them? Who knows? Does it really matter if I am enjoying myself? Probably everyone will get fabric or paper flowers for Christmas! Heehee Have a great day.

Etsy Treasury

I got an ETSY Treasury today! Look what I made! Go and check out the real thing here, it took me an hour to figure out how to just get a snapshot for the above photo. Rediculous. YOu should be able to just have some html and share the dang thing! Anyway, here it is, I would appreciate any views and/or comments. Hugs

Some Work Humor

Cows...A Poem by Richard Armous Cows Do nothing but browse And drowse And now and then moo. That's all they do. Yet even while grazing They aren't lazing. Even while snacking They aren't slacking. If not illustrious Thay are inner industrious, Making milk with all their might. With every bite. Cream too, With every chew. I'd like it fine Could I combine In such measure Business with pleasure . Happy Friday from the Funky Art Queen.
