Frida Kahlo Altered Skirt

Here it is...the moment you have all (and when I say all I mean all 3 of you-heehee) been waiting for. The Frida skirt is making her debut right here.

This of course is the front of the skirt. I finally finished it this morning. See, it pays to get up early. I always get so much done in the morning when everyone else is still in bed. First, I get the dogs out, start the coffee, let the dogs in, sip my coffee and I start eye balling all my projects to decide which one I feel like working on. I had already determined that I would get this skirt done this weekend. I also plan to finish Heather's purse and my little placemat project. Oh, and my friend, Renea, said she would not mind getting one of my funky purses for her birthday in July so I better start that project. So, it looks like it will be a fabric art type of weekend. Things could change though! ( I like to add that clause in case my interests change as they so often do.

Here is the back and a close up of the Frida Kahlo skirt;

NOw I have to brag about my husband. He got me the best present ever for Christmas this year. He got me a satelite radio with serius. I love listening to it so much on my way to work and home every day. I have many favorite stations but my all time favorite is the Martha Stewart Station. I listen to "Whatever with Alexis and Jennifer"every afternoon from 4-6pm. Then in the morning there is always some cooking, craft, gardening, etc show that I just enjoy so much. So, long story short, I thought it would be cool to have some kind of way to listen to the satellite radio in the house. I assigned my husband to figure that out yesterday via telephone and before I even got home, he was calling me to tell me he bought this little unit I could plug in my satellite radio to inside. So, I have been listening to 80's Station and Martha all morning while arting away. OH, I'm a spoiled brat...huh?

Woah I love the Frida skirt! I would SOOOO wear this thing everywhere! Talent talent talent here.

May need to request a radio of my own, huh? I didn't know you could listen to all that crafting stuff on the radio--I love Coast to Coast am, but it comes on soooooo late I fall asleep before the first hour is over.

How about Codemeister, the Codinator, CodeRed, CodyBody, Codemandalyn...sometimes you gotta mix it up just a little, lol...but yeah, Codeman is the most widely used.

Paper Flowers and Fabric Flowers

Well, I'm kind of in a creative funk again. I hate it when this happens! I'm so glad that next weekend I am going to Fredricksberg, TX again to the trade days. I know it will inspire me in all kinds of directions. Meanwhile, while I am trying to get my groove back........I have been making a lot of little short term projects in the paper department. I made this little posey pin from faux vintage post/letters etc papers from the scrapbooking department. I actually wore it yesterday on my jacket. Then I spotted this book on Fabric Flowers by Elizabeth Helene Searle at the fabric store and I had to get it. I used her instructions to make this first fabric flower. I want to try several of her other flowers instructions. Now, what will I do with them? Who knows? Does it really matter if I am enjoying myself? Probably everyone will get fabric or paper flowers for Christmas! Heehee Have a great day.

Dumpster Diving Diva

Dumpster Diving Diva Yes, I have to say, I probably looked something like this yesterday. I'm hoping that my bo - hiney did not look so much like this one though. OK, are you ready for this Lucy Ricardo story? It was Monday and I was working. I parked in the hospital parking lot and was going to go in and market to all the social workers. I spotted a trash dumpster and decided I should take advantage of that and clean the trash out of my car. (When you work out of your car...you are constantly cleaning trash out). So, I gathered up all trash and proudly walked over to the dumpster that I was parked so close to. I'm always so proud of myself for making do on the run. I proudly released my trash into the dumpster and before it hit the bottom I realized I also released my car keys! DANG IT! I could see them but for the life of me, I could not reach them. First, I looked all around for witnesses (none) so I dipped in slightly with my arm reaching as far as it could.....no go. Not

NO WATER REQUIRED FABRIC FLOWERS

I finished these fabric flowers yesterday. I loved the polkadot material. I just used fabric stiffener and I baked them some to make the fabric hard. I hot glued the stems and tied pretty ribbon. These are my kinda flowers......I can't kill these. Just dust and go. LOL Then after thinking about it a bit, I decided to make some round ones....kinda like pansies. That was not enough though.....I wanted them to be sort of primitive so I tea dyed them and baked them to stiffen. I also added polyurthane.....which by the way, I don't like as it seems to have a very mild stickiness even after they dried. So we live and learn....anyway....here they are. Then I decided to so something else with fabric....something different and unique. Oh my goodness, sometimes I can't leave well enough alone. I do not like this creation but I like the concept so I might have to play with the idea some more. I wanted to make a fabric sculpture piece of art that you could hang on the wall. This is
