Weekend Projects

I'm officially tired! I have been busy as a bee all weekend. Yesterday, Craig and I went to an estate sale here in town and I found these two shutters for a dollar! I could not wait to get home to alter them. I had no idea what I was going to do with them but now I do..more on that in a minute. Then, I spotted a garage sale on the way home and I found a full size bed frame for $5.00! Oh boy! I needed one for the guest room project. So, I have been stripping paint from that bed, the shutters, painting, sanding, painting, sanding etc....all weekend and I am so pooped right now. I still want to distress the bed (headboard) some more. I also want to add some rose wallies to the back/inside headboard. There were little sliding doors but I did not want them...I wanted it open so that I could display things on this shelf of the headboard.

I decided what to do with the shutters. There are two of them (above is a before pic of one of them) (below is the after pic). I'm going to finish the painting....(kind of a distressed mint) and then I'm going to buy hinges and attach the two. This will then set on top of the dresser with vintage jewelry and maybe scarfs, hats, stuff like that hanging on it.

I have really enjoyed this redecorating project. Someday I will be done....then we will have to start another room. Oh, I posted a couple of new things of my Etsy today too....so go and have a looksie! Hugs to all!

Paper Flowers and Fabric Flowers

Well, I'm kind of in a creative funk again. I hate it when this happens! I'm so glad that next weekend I am going to Fredricksberg, TX again to the trade days. I know it will inspire me in all kinds of directions. Meanwhile, while I am trying to get my groove back........I have been making a lot of little short term projects in the paper department. I made this little posey pin from faux vintage post/letters etc papers from the scrapbooking department. I actually wore it yesterday on my jacket. Then I spotted this book on Fabric Flowers by Elizabeth Helene Searle at the fabric store and I had to get it. I used her instructions to make this first fabric flower. I want to try several of her other flowers instructions. Now, what will I do with them? Who knows? Does it really matter if I am enjoying myself? Probably everyone will get fabric or paper flowers for Christmas! Heehee Have a great day.

Laughing Out Loud

I still have some work to do on these paper mache letters. I finally found something to do with all the bits and pieces of things that I keep because they will be perfect for some piece of art.....some day. Today is the day! I really love this piece/grouping. LOL .....a good message don't you think? Go ahead, Laugh Out Loud.....it is very healthy and therapeutic. Today, I bought the soundtrack to Mamamia and I have enjoyed the heck out of it. I really enjoyed that movie. I have discovered that people either love it or hate it. I just think that it is so cool that Meryl Streep totally stepped out of her norm and went for the musical. She did a great job and I can't wait to see it again. It is a great girlfriends and sisters movie. I highly recommend that you go and get it and go to your girlfriends house and watch it and....oh....I don't know......LAUGH OUT LOUD! Let me know if you do and how it goes.

NO WATER REQUIRED FABRIC FLOWERS

I finished these fabric flowers yesterday. I loved the polkadot material. I just used fabric stiffener and I baked them some to make the fabric hard. I hot glued the stems and tied pretty ribbon. These are my kinda flowers......I can't kill these. Just dust and go. LOL Then after thinking about it a bit, I decided to make some round ones....kinda like pansies. That was not enough though.....I wanted them to be sort of primitive so I tea dyed them and baked them to stiffen. I also added polyurthane.....which by the way, I don't like as it seems to have a very mild stickiness even after they dried. So we live and learn....anyway....here they are. Then I decided to so something else with fabric....something different and unique. Oh my goodness, sometimes I can't leave well enough alone. I do not like this creation but I like the concept so I might have to play with the idea some more. I wanted to make a fabric sculpture piece of art that you could hang on the wall. This is
