Vintage Stuffed Alligator

I'm in big trouble for not blogging lately huh? I'm sorry. I have been working fast and hard to get Cody's room repainted "pale peach" instead of "baby Yuk" green because Cody was comingto visit this weekend. He has been gone since April and suddenly, I decided it was time to re- paint?! So, every afternoon this week, I rushed home and started the paint work. It took two coats to cover that yuky green. I decided to stop on Wednesday even though I needed to paint the ceiling and the trim; because I did not want the room to smell like paint when Cody came this weekend. So, I'm still not done......It is the project that just keeps going and going.....heehee. But look......at my little alligator.....
I named her "Rosie" because of her rosie pattern. She was born today from a beautiful cotton print with tea pots, tea cups and roses. I added a pair of pearls for her trip to her tea party! I love my little Rosie alligator and I am almost positive she will be a part of the new guest room I am re-decorating.
Did I tell you that my mother (naturally) still had the original pattern?!!! She brought it to me last weekend. Yay Mama!!!! You Rock! Here is another view of her in the bedroom I am redecorating;
II have several other projects in the works. I can't wait to share them with you. Hope you all have a fabulous and funky July 4th. HUGS!

Rosie is so lovely and so is the quilt she's on. Reading about your quest for a pattern and then the making of Rosie brought me back to my oldest son's first Christmas when, on my college-student-budget, I was way too poor to buy many gifts. I scoured garage sales for new-looking toys and made him a horrendous teddy bear from an old velour shirt. That bear surprisingly held up to many trials and tribulations and remains my sweet boy's (oops: man)favorite childhood token 27 years later! Thanks for helping me remember that special time.

Love,
Alberta

That alligator is adorable!
It looks so shabby chic and looks great on that quilt. You could sell these on etsy.
How nice that Cody is visiting! That's a long time to be away.
Hope you had a great holiday and visit!
Hey sweetie girl, I missed you! I am finally back, wish I could haved stayed longer. I dread work tomorrow. Say a prayer for me. I LOVE "Rosie" she is adorable. You need to make one for my new grandbaby. HEE HEE! I am going to post some photos later of our vacation. We had so much fun with the kids. I even got in the lake & went swimming with them. Love those boys. Hope to see you soon. Hugs***Renea

Paper Flowers and Fabric Flowers

Well, I'm kind of in a creative funk again. I hate it when this happens! I'm so glad that next weekend I am going to Fredricksberg, TX again to the trade days. I know it will inspire me in all kinds of directions. Meanwhile, while I am trying to get my groove back........I have been making a lot of little short term projects in the paper department. I made this little posey pin from faux vintage post/letters etc papers from the scrapbooking department. I actually wore it yesterday on my jacket. Then I spotted this book on Fabric Flowers by Elizabeth Helene Searle at the fabric store and I had to get it. I used her instructions to make this first fabric flower. I want to try several of her other flowers instructions. Now, what will I do with them? Who knows? Does it really matter if I am enjoying myself? Probably everyone will get fabric or paper flowers for Christmas! Heehee Have a great day.

Funky and Proud

Just wanted to say a big thanks to all who responded to the last post. You are all so smart and insightful. I think after much thought and several good conversations with my friends, I feel better about this whole idea. My conclusion, I do many different things that fall under the "mixed media" category...even the jewelry. I have this never ending curiosity and desire to learn new techniques. Whatever I am working on at the moment is satisfying my creative cravings...if not, I don't do it. If I don't enjoy something....I don't do it. It is that simple. The "Funky Art Queen" thing? It occured to me that the people that would be put off by my d.b.a. would be those that most likely would not be drawn to my art in the first place. Thanks again. I just love every one of you. Next blog......not all about me I promise. HUGS

Laughing Out Loud

I still have some work to do on these paper mache letters. I finally found something to do with all the bits and pieces of things that I keep because they will be perfect for some piece of art.....some day. Today is the day! I really love this piece/grouping. LOL .....a good message don't you think? Go ahead, Laugh Out Loud.....it is very healthy and therapeutic. Today, I bought the soundtrack to Mamamia and I have enjoyed the heck out of it. I really enjoyed that movie. I have discovered that people either love it or hate it. I just think that it is so cool that Meryl Streep totally stepped out of her norm and went for the musical. She did a great job and I can't wait to see it again. It is a great girlfriends and sisters movie. I highly recommend that you go and get it and go to your girlfriends house and watch it and....oh....I don't know......LAUGH OUT LOUD! Let me know if you do and how it goes.
