Drawing Without Intentions

Lately I have been enjoying working in my journals and drawing pictures without any intentions what-so-ever.  I think that helps me to relax and go all kinds of places with my creativity when I create something just for the sake of creating.  I decided to do something with my eye ball people since a friend of mine pointed out that it seems like many of my subjects have big eyes and a uni brow.  I don't know why I like eyes but I do believe they are the window to the soul.  I also think, like she said, I like to take in everything visually.  Sometimes, I can hardly concentrate because so many things catch my eye where ever I may be.  I am attracted to color and interesting lines and subjects.  It could even be a simple arrangement of objects that catches my eye.  So, today I give you "Sisters.....Looking Out For Each Other".....a simple drawing tweaked a little digitally.  Have a good evening.  XOXO Lesley

Art Journal Idea

Oh my goodness, I came up with a fun idea for my art journaling and I thought to myself, "self, why did you not think of this sooner?!" LOL I had previously ordered lots of 4X6 prints of my art just to give away as part of the "always give them something extra" when people bought art from me.  Last night, I started cutting out images from those prints (so much of my old art).  I also started seeing how my works could be interchanged by cutting out the pieces and adding to other pieces.  For instance, a different head to a different body.  Duh....I bet all of you already thought of this huh?  Anyway, that is how the journal entry was born (above).  The face and body are from a previous print and I drew her arms on this map paper.  See, I'm not lost, I just wander!

Flow

I have been working on my journal like I said I would using the Creative Entrepreneur workbook by Lisa Sonora Beam.  This is just one of my entries.  Today we are going to Midland to have dinner and shop just a bit.  I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.

Have a Heart for Haiti

I just discovered this Heart for Haiti call for help and I have decided to help.  If you want to help you can click on this link Heart for Haiti  and follow the instructions there.  I have so many art pieces that are just sitting here doing nothing, inspiring no one, and benefiting nothing.  So, I offer my art to this purpose.  Do you have anything for this event?  Just like Mother Teresa said once, "I can do no great things....only small things with great love."  So here is my small thing.   xoxo

Journal Entry

early bird got it Originally uploaded by Funky Art Queen Played in my journal last night. I have not done that in a while. I enjoyed the freedom and the quiet time to think while I mindlessly colored with gel pens and other inks. Of course I can't leave it alone, I had to digitally alter it some with the photo editor on Flickr. I hope you are finding time to play in your journals. Happy Monday!

Do You Believe in Fairies?

O h my goodness, my favorite time of the  year.  Time for the fairies to come out soon from their winter sleep.  I could not wait to start working on the front of their home  and their pond as a kind welcome to them.  I just want them to keep coming back.  So, I found them this fabulous door on Etsy by Jay Beesmer  at Wooden Treasures , from North Carolina!  It arrived today and it is more beautiful in person!  I love it Jay and the fairies will too.  The butterfly, well that is right up our alley around here in funky queendom.  THANKS Jay! As a side note, Jay and his wife at Lovingly Crafted ...are quite the brilliant wood artists.  You just have to go and check them out on Etsy. Here is a close up of the door! Do you believe in fairies?  I hope you do!  Isn't it enchanting to imagine that the fairies do all kinds of magical things at night while we are sleeping?  I would love to know what your thoughts are about fairies.  How can I fix their little area up more so that they w

The Creative Entrepreneur

I have looked at this book for a long time at the book store.  I hesitated to get it because my first thought was that it was too right brain and not enough of the business side.  But gradually as time when by, I realized that this is the perfect book for the creative individual who struggles with their creative goals.  It is a "DIY Visual Guidebook for Making Business Ideas Real". Keep in mind I have only started the first chapter and this is all strictly an account of my creative journey. I have this burning desire to live a life of creativity!  I dream of someday actually earning a living doing the very thing I love! Maybe you feel this way too?  Without going into "excuse mode" I will confess that I have many barriers to my success.  It is totally up to me to remove the barriers.  I think this book will help me to further explore my personal road to creative success.  It is set up journal style which appeals to me right off.  I hope to do some serious self int
