WOW UPDATE ON CATELYN'S FUNDRAISER

UPDATE!!! SEPTEMBER 27TH, 2007 I just spoke with Kim on the telephone and she told me about the huge hearts of Kim's family and friends. Oh goodness! They did not need my little blog to ask for help. They just got to it. All kinds of things are happening to help out Kim, Catelyn and this wonderful family. Words can't describe the goosebumps on my arms and the warmness in my heart. All I can think of is how Brother Patrick (our minister a while back) used to say "ain't God good?". Those of you that really know me, know that I am an honest person and that my heart is good. I love my friends and family and I would do anything for them. So, that being said, I want to ask for your assistance. I have a friend whose daughter is going to have to undergo surgery to remove one of her kidneys that the doctors say is basically "dead". The young girl is covered under insurance but it is one of those yukky insurances that hardly helps at all. This is going to be a g

Shadow Box Art

This is a shadow box I finished today. It was inspired by my Grandma. It is all about her. Well, not all about her, but some things. It mostly focuses on the fact that she was a seamstress. However, there was a lot more to her then that. This is just what I was thinking about at this time. The old sewing machine is actually one of my first transparencies sewn over a pattern piece...see it peaking through?

Bed and Breakfast Please

Craig and I are celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary this weekend. We drove about 3 and 1/2 hours to Fredricksberg, Texas. We are staying at the most amazing bed and breakfast called "Magnolia House" . This house is awsome. It was built in 1923 and the current owners have it decorated so nicely. I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast but have always wanted to. It is so neat. Here is a picture of our suite. We are just sitting her sipping wine, watching television and reading. Total relaxation and quiet time together. Of course, I'm sure Craig has other stuff on his mind. Heehee Yesterday, I remembered we had put our wedding on a cassette tape. Not video mind you....yes, they had video back then...we just could not afford it. I had not thought of this tape in years and I decided I had to find it. With some luck, I found it in when of the kids baby bible boxes. I labeled the box and took it to my husband. He was not as excited about it as me that I had found this b

Some Thoughts

OK... no art to show you today...just some thoughts. Think of it as kind of a newsletter from the funky art queen's mind. Why is it that when people you know see you at the grocery store, they always sneak a peak into your basket to check out what you are buying? (It happened again today) Do they think you don't notice their quick glance? Do I do that? I hope not. Maybe I do. I have been noticeing that lately. Does that happen to you? I think someday, if I was just a little bit braver...I would fill my basket with wine, condoms, and maybe some rubber gloves to really get them thinking. Nosey people!!! Now I can't really concentrate on my visits with people at the grocery store because I am checking them out to see if they are checking out what is in my basket. Is that the mind of a paranoid? Do I have anything to hide? Well no, unless you think it is bad to have a basket full of condoms, wine, and rubber gloves...heehee-LOL I have been meaning to tell you about a friend of

More Journal Art

Just some doodle art I did in my moleskin journal on our long drive to see Cody in Irving. We had a happy and short trip. We took his sweet girlfriend, Nadia on the trip so they could see each other. Oh, young love. I don't know what to do next in the art world but I was inspired lately in a couple of areas. I noticed an article about transparencies in one of my art magazines. I want to try them in some type of collage. There was a picture in our hotel room that really inspired me. It was a grid with about 4 rows across and 6 columns. Each area had an interesting type of paper/very textured with a small collage on it. It was just really interesting and I have to try something like that. I'm digging the grids lately.

altered tin

I've made a couple of these but I think this one (in terms of quality) is the best. I think that by using the pasta machine my clay was just the right thickness. I'm proud of the outcomes of this one and I am encouraged to try another...but one can only eat so many mints!!!! Heehee. Send tins if you would like to help! The instructions for this project are in the "Design Originals...Can Do Craft" book No. 5137.

Paper Flowers Art

I went to "The Little Bizaar" in Midland yesterday in desparate search for some inspiration for my Italian style thank you luncheon I am doing for some of our top accounts at work. I can't think of anything...can you believe that? Usually, I can come up with all kinds of fun and theme related things. Anyway, I told Debbie (the owner) and she suggested the little paper flowers and vases like she made. Then she told me the reason the little paper flowers and vases she had made had been out of the store the last month because they were being photographed by " Scrap and Stamp ". Her flowers made the cover! She is so talented!!!! So, I got totally off track and had to make some of these flowers. I don't know if I will use them for my Italian themed luncheon. We will worry about that later. I made three differents vase/pots of flowers. I did not have the patience to make the cardboard vases like Debbie. But, after two trips to WalMart, I finally had everything

Mixed Media Piece

Let Go! My most recent piece of art on canvas! I used newspaper to create the flowers and gel medium to add them to my textured and layered canvas board. I used a stamped piece of scrapbook paper for the bird and the sun. The sun rays were created with inks and whimsey! Can you see the little skeleton leaves. This was a fun piece! I called it "Let Go" as in Let Go and Let God". That is something I have been working on lately. Hugs to all. More later!

Wish List

I have been thinking about this for awhile. Not that I really need anything....but, I have seen people do this and I want to post my own wish list. I have an anniversary, birthday, and Christmas coming up. So, just to be helpful and all. Really, I don't mind. Here are some things I would love to have but won't buy myself. These are truly the best and most fabulous colored pencils on earth. I just hate it because they cost so much. I usually just buy one at a time.

African Sisters Art-African Art

I wanted to show this one to you. I finished it but not in time for the art show. It was still a little wet. So, it's dry and ready for you to see. I could not get the glare off even without the flash! So, just imagine it without the glare. Today, I saw in the Herald (The big Big Spring Newspaper) that the County Fair is coming up and has several art/craft contests. I think I will enter some of my pieces in that. Cody is still sick! I even took him to the ER and waited 2 1/2 hours to get him a shot or something but we waited so long and finally gave up and came home. His fever has been as high as 102. I hate for him to be so sick. My poor sweet kid. I know he will get better. But, he just has to go through this. YUK!

More Yard Art

I discovered this cute little craft on the Michaels Craft web site. The pond and all of the little creatures were made with little clay pots. I just wanted something else for my front porch. So, now I have the fish, and the little pond. It was a fun little diversion. Well, the art show reception was today and I went. I did not get any awards but my art is up there and that is cool. There was some beautiful art at the show. It was nice to meet some of the local artists. Cody made it home and he is sick. I think he has the flu. All he wanted was to lay down and get some nurturing from his Mama. We were going to cook out for him but he does not have an appetite. We will just do soup tonight. He did say he only wants tomato soup if it is "MiMi's". Yea, I will just drive to Mama's and get him some of that. HEEHEE-Hope he gets to feeling better...my poor baby boy! Gonna be a Campbells soup night! Don't forget to get your flu shots -they will soon be available!! Be watch
